The terms "street lit" or "urban fiction" are continuing to tap the shoulders of publishers as rappers and hip-hop artists take on book writing and publishing in this new urban lit trend. Albert Johnson, known as Prodigy, recently appeared at the Calabash International Literary Festival in Jamaica, reading from his novel, H.N.I.C., written over a decade ago. His appearance reminds publishers and readers that the contributions from these musical artists are not limited to the records and radio hits they produce.
